Terms of Service
Last updated: June 11, 2026
These terms govern your purchase and use of Scroll, a macOS application sold by TinkerClaw (tinkerclaw.com, "we", "us"). By downloading, trialing, or purchasing Scroll you agree to them.
1. Purchases, payments, and refunds
Scroll is sold as a one-time purchase. Payments are processed by Polar Software, Inc. (polar.sh), acting as merchant of record. Polar handles checkout, billing details, receipts, applicable sales tax/VAT, and refunds on our behalf; their terms apply to the payment transaction itself.
We offer a 14-day refund policy: if Scroll isn't working out within 14 days of purchase, contact sanky369@gmail.com and we'll refund you. Prices may change over time (e.g., the launch price increasing); price changes never affect licenses already purchased.
2. License
On purchase you receive a license key granting you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Scroll on up to 3 Macs that you own or control. Updates we publish are included. The license does not expire.
You may not:
- redistribute, resell, rent, or sublicense Scroll or your license key;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app except to the extent permitted by applicable law;
- circumvent the trial or license validation mechanisms.
The free trial grants the same functionality for 7 days from first launch, for evaluation only.
3. Your OpenAI API key
Scroll's cloud narration connects directly from your Mac to OpenAI using your own OpenAI API key. You are responsible for your OpenAI account, its usage costs, and compliance with OpenAI's terms. We are not a party to that relationship and never see your key, your usage, or your bills. Local-only mode operates without any key.
4. License validation
The app periodically validates your license key against Polar's API (sending the key and a device label such as your Mac's name). A generous offline grace period is built in; validation is never used to collect analytics.
5. Acceptable use
Scroll reads what is on your screen at your request. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Scroll on any given content (e.g., confidential material governed by an NDA or your employer's policies) is permitted, and for what you choose to send to OpenAI via your own key.
6. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Scroll is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. AI narration can be wrong; do not rely on it as a substitute for reading critical content (legal, medical, financial) yourself.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from or relating to Scroll is limited to the amount you paid for your license. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
7. Termination
We may revoke a license obtained fraudulently or used in material breach of these terms. You may stop using Scroll at any time; sections 3, 6, and 8 survive.
8. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which TinkerClaw is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. We may update these terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
